Russell Floersch

I completed an MFA in painting from the University at Buffalo, SUNY in 1983. Later that year I travelled to West Germany on a Fulbright Fellowship where I attended the Hochschule der Kunste, West Berlin -- what is now the Universitat der Kunste, Berlin. My advisors were K.H. Hoedicke and Georg Baselitz. Upon returning to the US, I moved to NYC in the summer of 1984. My first one-person show in New York was in 1986 at the Civilian Warfare Gallery. From 1987-1992, I showed at Stux Gallery. In January 2007 I returned to painting full-time. I am represented by Rooster Gallery in NYC. My studio is in Long Island City, near PS1, and I teach at City College, CUNY.
